Alexis's Meringues

Yesterday, Mr. Husband had to go meet up clients at Great Eastern Mall, I tagged along. I didn't have to, and I was actually kind of lazy to go out yesterday but I remembered that there's an Alexis at GEM, and I've been wanting to try out their meringues ever since reading about them at ThePinkStilettos blog.

So, met the customer..yadda yadda..and just before leaving GEM, I went to take out these babies.

Mixed Fruit Meringue

Chocolate Nutty Meringue

Price is RM15 for each slice. The slice cut is big and I think you could share it between two persons.

Taste wise, it's almost everything that I had expected. Silky smooth, soft like cotton candy and the meringue was crispy and sweet.

They weren't skimping on the nuts, there tons of pecans, macadamias and walnuts in each layer. The fruits on the fruit meringue was ok..but my slight lack of enthusiasm for the mixed fruit shows that I am a chocolate lover through and through. Don't get me wrong, the fruit meringue was divine but I don't think I will order it again...love hate relationship with strawberries I guess. You know how they're soooo good to look at, and they look so mouth-watering..but once you take a bite, sour explosion (yikes!) hits you taste bud. Well, that I can't handle well.

Anyway, I'll definitely will try more desserts from Alexis because their display case is just so..so..I dunno, I can stand there for quite some time just looking I suppose. The only thing that disappoints me is that no matter how lovely the Tiramisu with its gold flaky and nutty exterior (I never seen a Tiramisu dressed like that!)...I can't get to taste it ever because it contains Cognac. Oh well..
