Tune Hotel, Danga Bay, Johor Bahru

Ever since I heard of Tune Hotel, I was skeptical. Is it really true that a hotel can deliver a satisfactory stay with really low prices?

Yes, it can!

Mr. Hubby and I was planning on a sorta backpacking trip to Singapore but we didn't want to stay in Singapore because it would be way too expensive and over our budget. Then, we remembered seeing Tune Hotel at Danga Bay on our previous trip to JB, so we decided to give it a try.

Booking online is so easy and would be the preferred choice because that's where you get all the discounts. The thing is, the earlier you book your stay, the cheaper will the price be. An early start on planning your holidays would be great for this sort of hotel. As for payment, you could pay with major credit card and via Maybank2u. Also let it be known that room charges does not include air-condition, towels, toiletries, and tv (you have to pay all this you want them but not to worry, the charges are reasonable for a no frills hotel). There's also no telephone in the room and you can pay for WIFI in your room.

Check in time is 2.00p.m sharp and check out is 10.00a.m sharp. When I say sharp, it's sharp. Because we arrived around 1.40p.m and they won't let us check in yet. So we had lunch at Singgah Selalu across the street (which serves variety food that's good) while waiting for 2.00p.m to come.

The room was cozy albeit how small it was. For the two of us, we considered it perfect. Pictures will tell you more.

View from the door. As you can see, there's no cupboard, just a swiveling table and a place to hang your clothes. I love the feature wall.

The bed was comfortable. Definitely worth your money.

You'll need to pay RM1 per day to use the hair dryer.

What I love the most is the huge shower head with the awesome water pressure!

So how much did we really have to pay for our stay? The total was RM162 (including 24hour air-cond credit, RM5 Tune Hotel Insurance, Service Charges and Taxes) for a 4 days 3 nights stay. Roughly, it's RM54 per night. In my opinion, the price is affordable and more than reasonable. We paid RM10.60 for 1 day TV usage, this is just for our first day in the hotel because we were out from morning to night on the 2nd and 3rd day.

There's a cafe on the 1st floor, a 7Eleven on the ground floor and an ATM too. There's 4 computers near the concierge (if you can call it that) that hooks up to the Internet. They're free for hotel guests, I think. While there's no room service for ironing, I saw a sign that says there's a complimentary ironing service on the 1st floor. Also, you can leave the door sign to "Make up Room", and voila, when you return, your bed is made and the trash is gone.

Tune Hotel, Danga Bay is situated next to the main road from Skudai to JB. It's also accessible from Pantai Lido. At the time of our visit, there were major roadworks going on, so going there might be a hassle if you don't know JB roads.

The hotel certainly lives to up expectation and it's motto of no frills budget hotel with 5star bedding and 1star charges. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Will I come again or try out other Tune Hotel outlets? Yes, definitely.
